The people running the Fishtail Fund: our Trustees

Binod Koirala works for an International Humanitarian Organization in a managerial post at its office in Pokhara, Nepal. He has experience of working with many organizations in the field of health, education, environment and humanitarianism. He served the Rotary Club of Pokhara Fishtail as the Club President for the year 2008/09 and previously worked as Secretary and Vice President from 2003 to 2007. He has contributed to the humanitarian and social development of Nepal through various non-governmental organizations. He is Nepal Coordinator of the Fund. He has been awarded Paul Harris Fellowship for his Fishtail Fund work.

Rama Kanta Baral lives in Pokhara and he is the founder of a private school in Pokhara. He is also director of a private bank in Nepal. He has served the Rotary Club Pokhara Fishtail as Treasurer and Club Service Director. He holds various positions in different social and entrepreneurial associations. He is Senior Vice President of the Fishtail Fund in Nepal.

Jayandra Gauchan lives in Pokhara, Nepal. He runs his own metal fabrication company and holds the post of Board of Directors for a leading private development bank in Pokhara. He was the President of Rotary Club Pokhara Fishtail for the year 2009-10.

Laxmi Thapa
Laxmi has been active in Education Consultancy and runs a wholesale garments and schoolware sales organisation. She was the club Editor of RC Pokhara FIshtail for the year 2012-13. She is interested in social service and involved in a few other social organizations. She has been awarded Paul Harris Fellowship for her Fishtail Fund work. She is President of RC Pokhara Fishtail for 2017-18.

Bhuwansing Gurung Bhuwansing is an ex- British Gurkha officer. Since retirement, he has been active in banking sector and is the chairperson of a Finance Company based in Pokhara. He is a chartered member of RC Pokhara Fishtail and served as the President for the year 2005-6. He has also served the District 3292 as an Assistant Governor for the year 2011-12.

 

 

 

UK trustees of the Fishtail Fund are:

David Lumb lives in Dronfield, England. He began working first as a mountaineering instructor. Later he worked in schools in the UK and was for many years a Deputy Principal of a school in Sheffield, UK. He ran a private tutoring company for a time and has recently retired. He is a Past President and member of the Rotary Club of Dronfield and his hobbies are walking, theatre and Nepal. He is UK Coordinator of the Fund.

Rob Barron is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Dronfield. He is a retired Head Teacher in the state sector. He has lived in Dronfield for many years. He is among other interests a member of and contributor to the U3A. He specialises in presentations for the Fishtail Fund.

 

Michael Whetton is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Dronfield. Initally a teacher of mathematics, he worked for over 40 years in the computer industry on mainframe software, education and capacity planning. He is now retired after being an independent consultant for the last 30 years. He is the Trustee responsible for grants application and Trust treasurer.

Ian Ward is Past President of the Rotary Club of Dronfield. He was an academic working in the area of energy efficient building design. He headed a research unit which was involved in helping to develop Government policy and he has worked in India and Malaysia where he helped to set up departments of energy at several Universities. His hobbies are painting, theatre and travel. He maintains the Fund’s database.

Brian Simpson was president of Rotary Club of Dronfield. Previously Chair of the International and Membership Committees. Trustee of the Fishtail Fund.  Retired Architect working in private practice mainly in West and South Yorkshire on major commercial, residential, leisure and industrial projects. Married to Meryl, with 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Lived in Dronfield for 44 years. Trustee of the Dronfield Heritage Trust and the Peel Centre Trust.Member of the Dronfield Civic Society. Former Treasurer of the Sheffield Society of Architects. Member of the National Trust. Interests include Hill walking, Angling, Sport, Travel Overseas.
