Distribution of aid

Pokhara: in a country at a standstill, few food banks.

An emergency worse than the earthquake?

Dear Supporters

Request for financial support

Our Fishtail Fund students and their families are under considerable pressure because of the virus, which is now taking hold in Pokhara as we told you in Newsletter 26. Many supporters wrote back: How can we help? We have always accepted that our responsibility to our students includes the needs of their families. We have taken rapid action by operating a small food bank for them.

On Saturday 27th June 2020, our partner Rotary Club helpers in Pokhara bought and distributed carefully selected items for support. They took advantage of bulk-buying and medically trained Rotarians suggested the anti-virus items. There is no public transport, so the students walked to a meeting place, a restaurant belonging to a Rotarian. In many cases the walking took most of the day. Families were given food and a drink before carrying their new donated goods home.

Your support was much appreciated in Pokhara. In a Trustee’s words: Students and their parents highly appreciated for this support. It was a very right decision on right time.
We invite you to support this initiative by making a contribution, however small, towards the food and medicines.
The actual cost per student family was £35. Any contribution is welcome. However It is likely that we will have to help again within a month or so, so if you can give more, we may cover the cost of further food in time to come and avoid coming back to you with further appeals.

Please send this email on to others who might help us: members of clubs and groups who might help us, concerned individuals, anyone with an interest in Nepal.
